Public transport cards for students studying in Sofia 

All students under 20 years of age, studying on the territory of Sofia Municipality are entitled to discounted public transport cards. The cards are issued only against a valid student ID card. As of 15th of October 2018, the price of the cards is:

  • Students’ card for 1 month for all lines of the metro, buses, trolleybuses and trams – 20 leva.
  • Students’ card for 1 month for 1 line only – 9 leva
Additional support learning Bulgarian

In general, the better your child knows Bulgarian before school enrolment, the better they can deal with the subjects. To this end, Caritas Sofia and the Bulgarian Red Cross provide language support. Additional support should be provided at the school as well. This can vary between 90 to 120 hours per year, depending on your child’s age.   

  • Caritas Sofia offers language support at the organistion’s Centre for Integration of Refugees and Migrants at 1 Struma street. You may wish to contact them on 00359 2 869 6335, FB: @SvetaAnnaSofia.
  • Bulgarian Red Cross Български Червен Кръст offers assistance in the organisaton’s office located on 65 Evlogi and Hristo Georgievi blvd. You may wish to contact them on +359 2 816 4 821/82, FB: Бежанско-мигрантска служба на Български Червен кръст.
Online classes
  • Ucha.se: Students between 1st and 12th grade can watch lessons on different subjects online on the website of Ucha.se (Уча.се). Lessons are arranged by topics and are presented in a language that is easily understanble by children. Both the videos and other additional information are free.
  • Khan Academy: Free lessons in mathematics, programming and science can be found on the Khan Academy website - https://bg.khanacademy.org/
  • Proznanie: Another opportunity for further on-line training is via Proznanie‘s website. You may wish to find further information on pricing on the organisation’s website.  - https://www.proznanie.bg/.
