De Kameleon, Rotterdam: This school has an impressive record with parents’ participation. They have a large migrant parent population and started the initiative of “parent mornings”, where parents are allowed to come into the class for about an hour twice a week in the morning. In this way, the school stimulated parents to come to school and see the classroom. It also helped the school to meet parents who do not speak Dutch so well. The parents are able to see what goes on in the classroom, what it looks like and it helps them to understand what is going on. It also provides for students to show their parents around and their work. The “parent mornings” are multilingual and accessible for all parents of the classes. School: http://osbsdekameleon.nl/
