On being a refugee

As part of the 2013 TEDxBG conference in Sofia we organized a workshop on 13 January 2013 on a refugee topic for 50 people. The question was: What does it feel like to have to leave your country and life, to cross borders, to seek asylum. We did a special role game and some of the participants played refugees, others – border police and a third group – international monitoring experts. They played the game, then discussed how they felt, received professional information on the topic, heard the personal stories that two refugees shared and when everyone was hungry had the opportunity to try the amazing food of our favourite refugee chef Freddy. It wasn’t the end – there was also a refugee jewelry workshop and informal presentation of our Forum Theatre for refugee women.
