We empower refugee women to take action

Taking inspiration from the Theatre of the Oppressed, in 2012 we worked with refugee women to stimulate critical thinking and dialogue. This form of theatre is used all over the world for social and political activism, conflict transcendence, community building, therapy, and government legislation. It is about analysing rather than giving answers. It is also about “acting” (taking action) rather than just talking. With Theatre of the Oppressed women can and often do discover empowering solutions to their own struggles. We use theatre as a laboratory to explore alternatives to social constructs of gender and other power imbalances while at the same time having fun doing it! The participants receive in-depth, personalised mentoring and hands-on theatre training comprising interventions.
